Building Upon a Strong Foundation

For generations, Christ the King Parish has been a place where faith is nurtured, Catholic education flourishes, and families gather to worship, learn, and serve together. Today, our campus continues to shape the lives of children, strengthen families, and provide a welcoming home where our parish community can encounter Jesus Christ.

The Built on Faith. A Future of Promise. Centennial Campaign is an investment in that mission. By addressing important facility needs today, we will preserve the places where faith is formed, friendships are built, and lives are transformed for generations to come.

Why This Campaign?

Christ the King Parish has been blessed by the faith, generosity, and stewardship of generations who came before us. Their commitment has created a vibrant parish and school where lives are transformed through worship, Catholic education, faith formation, and service.

During his first year as pastor, Fr. Mark Tracy worked with parish leadership to assess our campus and identify the most significant needs. These priorities reflect that thoughtful process and our shared commitment to preserving Christ the King for generations to come.

The Built on Faith. A Future of Promise. Centennial Campaign is an opportunity for our parish family to come together in gratitude and stewardship. By addressing these important needs today, we will preserve the places where faith is nurtured, students are formed, and our parish community continues to grow for future generations.

Our Campaign Priorities

During his first year as pastor, Fr. Mark Tracy spent time listening, observing, and evaluating the needs of our parish and school. Working with parish leadership, he identified five key priorities that reflect our commitment to faithful stewardship and will preserve Christ the King Parish and School for generations to come. The Built on Faith. A Future of Promise. Centennial Campaign will address these priorities while strengthening our parish, supporting Catholic education, and preparing our campus for future generations.

School Windows

Our parish school has been a cornerstone of youth formation for generations. The original school windows have faithfully served students since the building was constructed in the late 1950s. Replacing these windows will improve safety, energy efficiency, and comfort while preserving a learning environment where students continue to grow in faith and knowledge.

List of Services

    Gym Roof

Our school gym has served generations of Christ the King students and is one of the most active spaces on our campus. From athletics and physical education classes to school assemblies and parish events, it plays an important role in the life of our parish and school. Replacing the aging gym roof will protect this valuable facility and ensure it continues to serve our community for years to come.

    Parish Center Roof

The Parish Center has long been a gathering place for our parish family. It is home to our parish offices, faith formation programs, fellowship events, ministry meetings, and countless opportunities to grow in faith and community. Replacing the Parish Center roof will protect this important facility and help ensure it continues to serve the needs of our parish for generations to come.

    Diocesan Centennial Campaign

As part of the Built on Faith. A Future of Promise. Centennial Campaign, 10% of our campaign goal will be tithed to the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois Centennial Campaign. This tithe will support exterior brick restoration at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, maintenance at the Catholic Pastoral Center, home to Catholic Charities, and campus improvements at Villa Maria Retreat Center.

    Parish & School Endowments

Should we exceed our campaign goal, additional gifts will strengthen both the Parish Endowment and the School Endowment. These endowments will provide lasting financial support for our parish ministries and Catholic education, helping ensure Christ the King Parish and School continue to flourish for generations to come.

    Frequently Asked Questions

We understand you may have questions about the Built on Faith. A Future of Promise. Centennial Campaign. Below are answers to some of the questions we hear most often. If you need additional information, please contact the parish office.

    • Why is this called the Centennial Campaign?

The Centennial Campaign is a five-year effort from 2023-2028 marking the 100th anniversary of the transfer of the Diocesan See city in 2023 and the 100th Anniversary of the dedication of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in 2028. The Centennial Campaign is a unique project that engages all the parishes in the diocese in an effort to revitalize parish communities through mission support, resource renewal, campus refurbishment, and sustainable financial planning. Each Parish in the Diocese is required to participate in by 2028.

    • Why is 10% of the campaign going to the Diocese?

A Parish Tithe of 10% of the campaign goal will support diocesan capital needs. This 10% parish tithe is being done instead of completing a diocesan wide campaign meaning 90% of funds from the centennial campaign stay with the parish. This tithe is capped: parishes that exceed their goal retain 100% of funds raised above it, with no additional tithe owed.

Like parishes, the diocese must periodically invest in its own facilities. The tithe will fund exterior brick restoration at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and maintenance at the Catholic Pastoral Center, home to Catholic Charities and campus improvements at the Villa Maria Retreat Center

    • When will the work begin?

Work will begin on the 3 projects depending on fund availability. If funds are available, plan is school windows in summer of 2027, gym roof in summer of 2028, and parish center roof in summer of 2029.

    • Why should I consider making a pledge?

A pledge allows you to prayerfully consider a more meaningful commitment and fulfill it over time in a manageable way. Many donors find that a multi-year pledge provides the flexibility to make a greater impact on the campaign while aligning with their family's priorities and commitment to the parish.

    • Is my campaign commitment in addition to my regular Sunday offering?

Yes. Campaign gifts are intended to be above and beyond regular offertory support. The parish continues to rely on weekly giving to meet ongoing operating, ministry, and pastoral needs throughout the campaign period.

    • What happens if we exceed our campaign goal?

Gifts received beyond the campaign goal will be directed towards a 2 endowments, parish and school. Each endowment will receive 50% of funds collected over our goal.

    • What happens if my circumstances change and I cannot fulfill my pledge?

Pledges are made in good faith and are accepted as such. If your circumstances change due to hardship, illness, or another unexpected situation, please contact the parish office so your pledge can be adjusted accordingly.

    • Are campaign gifts tax-deductible?

Christ the King is a qualified charitable organization. Contributions are tax-deductible as provided by law, and gift acknowledgments will be provided for tax purposes.

    • Who will be invited to support the campaign?

Every parish family will be invited to participate according to their ability. Leadership and major gifts are especially important in setting the pace for the campaign and inspiring broad participation throughout the parish community.
